Update to the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Adults and Adolescents with HIV
July 9, 2024: The Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Adults and Adolescents with HIV have been updated. These updates include new recommendations related to anal cancer screening and treatment.
- New screening and treatment recommendations have been developed for the prevention of anal cancer in people with HIV.
- Recommendations include a screening program that uses high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) to help detect and treat precancer and prevent anal cancer for people with HIV.
These guidelines are published in an electronic format and updated as relevant changes in prevention and treatment recommendations occur. All updates are developed by the subject matter groups listed in Appendix B. Updates are reviewed by scientific editors and relevant reviewers before the guidelines are altered.
